TESLA COIL PERFORMANCE COMING TO CLEVELAND
I'm heading to Cleveland, dear friends! I'll be working on this year's science-meets-art Ingenuity Festival, unleashing July 10-12. I'll be with my friend Ian Charnas, putting on an amazing new performance piece entitled: "Tesla Orchestra". It's a music/dance/puppet chunk of entertainment all revolving around a Tesla coil: a kind of giant music playing electricity conductor. Here's video of one in action:
Ours will be a full on, punch your face entertainment spectacular that climaxes in, oh I DON'T KNOW, A GIANT ROBOT FIGHT. I'll be posting more info as it comes.

FOOD PARTY UPDATE - IT'S TOTALLY GOING TO BE ON.
You've been wondering where I've been, blog-wise, for the entire month of April? (You have not been wondering this.) Well my friends, I've been busy as a bee: taking the pollen of my talent to the hive of a television studio, and "vomiting" it into a delicious honey of a show.
FOOD PARTY, led by uber-talented (and Paper Magazine-named "beautiful person") Thu Tran is officially premiering on the Independent Film Channel June 9th, 11:15pm. We did six BRAND NEW episodes, and are pound of five of them! (We are proud of all of them)
SO TUNE IN, and you can learn more at foodparty.tv , or visit our old You Tube channel, and catch up on the past. HERE.

Bonnaroo needed slave labor
A couple weeks ago, I got to help out with production company Ghost Robot's animated sequence for the Bonnaroo festival this year. By "help out", I mean cut paper with X-Acto Blades for eight hours a day. All of THIS is cut paper animation, shot though thirteen layers of glass (no computer assist) Check it out, it is AMAZING:

My hands ache looking at it, the way Grandpa's hands ached when it would rain, or when you pushed bamboo skewers under his nails.

FOOD PARTY ON IFC
- Food Party -
I've had a lot of people asking about the psychedelic half-puppet cooking show I co-write and direct for, Thu Tran's FOOD PARTY.
(If you don't know about Food Party, then you can learn all about it at your local public library, OR here: www.foodparty.tv)
Last month marked our fourth episode release party at the Monkeytown screening room in Brooklyn. (www.monkeytownhq.com ) The newest episode involves the soap-opera antics of love and death between your lovable host, Thu Tran, and her lover (played by a piece of bread).

If someone had offered us to do Food Party as a for-honest-to-God television show, I would have thought they were some sort of disguised evil troll, trying to steal our souls and gold. "Riddle-me-dee! A show all for me!" The troll would gloat. BUT WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN? We got a guaranteed non-troll offer to do just that. Due to a lot of blood, sweat and gumption, Food Party will soon be filming a number of BRAND NEW episodes for the Independent Film Channel. Pre-production begins in early March, and should be wrapping in May. This is a very big venture for everyone involved, we are really excited. I'll keep you as updated as I feel like!
